Autodesk is pleased to announce the availability of Helius PFA 2019. This software, provides fast, accurate and flexible tools for enhanced FEA of composite structures, including progressive failure analysis.
What's New in Autodesk Helius PFA 2019:
- Supported Platforms - Helius PFA has added support for Autodesk Nastran 2019, Autodesk Nastran In-CAD 2019, and ANSYS 18.2 & 19.0. This is part of a continuing effort to support the latest FEA platforms.
- Multi-Filler Materials - Advanced Material Exchange now supports multi-filler materials.
- Temperature Interpolation Improvements - The Temperature Interpolation feature for Advanced Material Exchange has been improved to allow you to select either a tensile or compressive environment.
Note: The syntax of the *SELECTEDENVIRONMENT HIN file keyword used to define the environment for temperature interpolation has changed.
- Bug Fixes - A number of bug fixes were implemented for this release.
About Autodesk Helius PFA. Autodesk Helius PFA software is an add-on for commercial finite element analysis (FEA) programs that is designed to improve accuracy, efficiency, and convergence in composite material simulations. Simulating failure of composite structures earlier in the design process makes it possible to validate designs before experimental testing, which helps to reduce testing time, cost and helps you make great products.
Developed specifically for composite materials, Helius PFA replaces traditional generalized analysis with advanced technologies for structural analysis and simulation. It delivers many powerful capabilities, including an efficient multiscale approach for the analysis of material nonlinearity, progressive failure and composite delamination as well as methods to reduce mesh sensitivity. Helius PFA addresses a range of composite analysis types, such as fatigue, nonlinear static, and explicit simulation scenarios. It supports multiple material types including chopped and continuous; unidirectional, plain, 4, 5, and 8 harness weaves.
- As-Manufactured Simulation using Moldflow
Improve the simulation accuracy of injection moulded parts by importing material data and fibre orientations through the Advanced Material Exchange. Transfer as-manufactured simulation data from Moldflow plastic injection moulding simulation software to your structural model. This data can be used to predict material non-linearity due to plastic deformation and matrix cracking, and conduct a more accurate structural simulation early in the design cycle.
- Residual Stresses and Strains
Use the Advanced Material Exchange to incorporate the effects of manufacturing into your structural simulation. Transfer residual stresses and strains from Moldflow to provide an initial stress state, and to include possible warpage from the injection moulding process.
- Support for Moldflow Materials
Use Advanced Material Exchange with multiple Moldflow materials, including fibre-filled plastics and non-filled plastics. Incorporate the material properties from the Moldflow database, and the results of the manufacturing process, into your structural simulation by transferring Moldflow results to your structural FEA code.
Support for Multiple Materials
Helius PFA is designed for multiple material systems, each with its own failure modes accounted for in a progressive failure analysis. The software addresses uni-directional materials and a variety of woven materials, such as plain woven and 4-, 5- and 8-harness satin weaves. It also includes a pre-defined set of both uni-directional and woven materials, with all data taken from published experiments.
